I started accompanying singers and instrumentalists very soon after taking up the piano at age ten. By the time I was sixteen I held professional acccompanying positions and freelanced in voice studios, at weddings, and many other performance venues. Rigorous training and experience as an accompanist was part of my studies at the Florida State University. At the same time I developed an interest in Ethnomusicology, in particular the traditional music of Japan, where I lived and studied for five years (yes,I speak Japanese). While in Tokyo I accompanied a community choir and played organ and piano at an Anglican Church.
I have been living in Seattle since 1988, and have had the pleasure of working with many varied groups, organizations, and private clients. My work in the Puget Sound area has involved all aspects of accompanying, coaching, and ensemble performance for vocalists, instrumentalists, and choral groups. Being a proficient sight-reader, I have been frequejntly sought out as an audition pianist. I have also been an organist, pianist, and choir director at several local churches.
I am currently Artistic Director of The Market Street Singers, a community choir in Ballard.
