Alexandra Carlson earned her Master of Piano Performance, cum laude, and her Doctorate of Musical Arts with a concentration in chamber music from the St. Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory and now performs a wide range of solo, chamber and collaborative works in Europe and the U.S.
Ms. Carlson is devoted to great vocal music. She spent two years collaborating on a vocal chamber music course at the St. Petersburg Conservatory with professor Victoria Evtodieva, a prizewinner of the Tchaikovsky Competition. She mastered her skills as an accompanist for German lieder with Professor Siegfried Mauser, President of the Hochschule fur Musik und Theater in Munich. Ms. Carlson has also won numerous awards in regional and international competitions as an accompanist.
Ms. Carlson appeared with instrumental ensembles in the concert series of the Youth Academies of Russia, the Baltic Piano Duo International Festival, the US-Russia Educational Bridge Project Festival, St. Petersburg Composers Club and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic. She performed a series of chamber music concerts in Germany with the ensemble “Memorial”. Recent performances include the Russian premiere of “Romantic Duets” by Rodion Shchedrin at the Mariinsky Theatre Concert Hall in St. Petersburg and American premiere of Sonata for violin and piano by Anton Tanonov at Harvard Musical Association in Boston, MA. Her performance as a soloist with the Junger Kunstler Bayreuth Festival Orchestra was featured on ARD television in Germany.
Ms. Carlson has won prizes at the Maria Yudina International Piano Competition (St. Petersburg, Russia), the “Hopes, Talents, Masters” Competition (Dobrich, Bulgaria), the Valentino Bucci International Competition (Rome, Italy) and the London International Piano Competition (England). She has also won a fellowship from the New Horizons Project (Cambridge, Massachusetts), where she interned with The Boston Symphony Orchestra. |
