I'm 18-years-old and in my first year of college at Moorpark Community College. I have been playing classical piano for just about twelve years now. I've passed all the Certificate of Merit exams, participated in Panel Convention, and got into a Master Class with Joseph Banowetz. I'm still currently studying advanced level pieces with my teacher, Mark Richman.
I was introduced to accompanying by my cello teacher, Celine Gietzen, six or seven years back, and have been helping out with her students ever since. I've also branched out to a couple of her colleagues and helped them out with accompanying as well. Most of the students are younger kids, which I can get along with just fine. I'm perfectly fine with accompanying older soloists too.
I specialize in classical music, but I can do other genres. I sight-read very easily, so it doesn't take me very long to learn a piece. I'm also very good following people. I almost always catch it when a soloist makes a mistake, or takes an unexpected rubato or something. I might not be the best at covering it up, but I do stay with them. |
