Eduards Grieznis ( born in 1988, Riga, Latvia) piano lessons started at the Baldone primary music school under the teachers Linda Atvare (1998-2001) and Jolanta Visocka (2001-2004). Also graduated Baldone’s art school. In Taiwan and Greek young artist contest has won golden medals. In Japan – special prize. Since 2004 studies at the Jazeps Medins Riga secondary music school (JMRMV) under the guidance of Ingrida Daktere-Barrow (2004-2006) and Dzintra Erliha (2006-2007). Since December 2007 studies with Jazeps Vitols Latvian music academy professor Ventis Zilberts.
Talented classically trained pianist/composer who has won awards in competitions in Latvia and Europe:
In 2003 gets 2nd place on State piano duet contest, in 2004 1st place on State regional pianist competition, 2 diplomas on “Latvian Talent” contest, on Jurmala International Piano Competition 2007 gets prize of the best Latvian composers masterpieces interpretation. 1st place in “Giuseppe Terraciano 4th international contest” Salerno, Italy.
E. Grieznis has taken part in international piano master classes with professors: Ventis Zilberts (Latvia, 2004), Oleg Stepanov (Australia, 2006), Oleg Mantur (Finland, 2006) and James Kirby (UK, 2007).
Performs in many concerts in Latvia as a solo artist and accompanist, also has played in Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music (Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music homepage).
Has taken part in Jurmala, Daugavpils, Valmiera and Rezekne music festivals.
Self- educated in composition. He draws inspiration analyzing J. S. Bach`s, V. A. Mozart`s, J. Haydn`s, L. van Beethoven`s, Fr. Chopin’s and other well known composers music.
Writes his first piano miniatures on age 12. Afterwards starts to arrange Latvian folksongs on piano, has many programme music, 2 piano sonatas e. t. c.
Has recorded one CD album with classical, Latvian and own written piano music in the age of 19.
