Jacqueline C. Leung is a classical Canadian pianist residing in Toronto, Ontario. She holds a Masters of Music performance degree in Piano from McGill University (2009). During her tenure as a Masters student, she studied with world renowned pianist Kyoko Hashimoto. During her tenure as a Bachelors student also at McGill University for Piano Performance, she studied under the tutelage of Thomas Davidson.
She has vast experience in french, german, italian and english songs and opera as well as other chamber music in all periods of classical repertoire especially for strings and woodwinds. She has also accompanied for musical theatre auditions and musical theatre singers. She has been trained under some of the world's finest; Michael McMahon, Kyoko Hashimoto, Douglas MacNabney and Matthias Buchholz. She was a pianist participating in the distinguished Orford Arts Centre Vocal Arts Workshop accompanying over 10 voice students in the week coached by Canada's Michael McMahon (2008), and was a pianist in the Song Interpretation Classes at McGill University for three years (2005-2008). She was also a piano participant in the International Chamber Music Workshop in Germany (2009). Currently, she is an active chamber musician collaborating with various instruments and voice. She is also pianist, General Manager and Co-Artistic Director for the Heliconian Choir and Orchestra.
Jacqueline also has a diverse background in teaching culminated over 11 years. Recently, she was an instructor at McGill University where she has held instructorships in Keyboard Proficiency courses (2006-2009 at the Schulich School of Music. Currently she resides in Toronto.
Jacqueline has performed in masterclasses for many renowned pianists in the world including Menahem Pressler, Anton Kuerti, Jamie Parker, Marietta Orlov, Andre Laplante, Jane Coop, Richard Raymond, and Jean Saulnier, Jacques Rouvier, and Matti Raekallio.
Jacqueline is a recipient of many awards and titles. She was a two time finalist chosen nationally for the TD Canada Trust Music Festival competition in Elora in 2008 and 2009. She is a recipient of 17 prizes from the Kiwanis Music Festival competitions of Greater Toronto. She was a recipient of the Heather Hamlin Scholarship (Queen's University), Canada Millenium Bursaries, Ontario Student Opportunity Grants, and Mary Beatty H Scholarship(McGill University) and full tuition scholarships to study at the Toronto Summer Music Festival Academy. She has also been named an Ontario Scholar.
Jacqueline is an excellent pianist to work with. Those who work with her continually praise her for her strong ear, strong sense of musicianship, and musical interpretations. She is dedicated and patient with her musicians, and has a warm personality and is reliable.
