Additional Info:	James Welch is well known as a soloist and collaborative pianist throughout the Western New York area. He is on the faculty at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Fredonia (Fredonia, NY) as an accompanist and instructor of Piano. He has accompanied the College Symphony Orchestra, Choirs, vocal student, faculty, and guest artist recitals, as well as Opera and Musical Theater workshops and productions. His teaching duties include group piano class and tutoring sessions. Musical events James has accompanied for SUNY Fredonia students and faculty have included master classes with Soprano, Renee Fleming and Collaborative Pianist, Donna Lowey while Fredonia international experiences include master classes at the Conservatorio G.B. Pergolesi (Fermo, Italy) with Tenor, Giuseppe Sabatini, and Soprano, Stefania Donzelli along with the collaboration and tour of the Marche region of Italy with the Postacchini String Quartet. In addition, James is an active collaborative pianist, and advises and assists with musical directing in the Western New York area. During the summer months he has served on the faculties for the Interlochen Summer Arts Camp (Interlochen, MI), and Rocky Ridge Summer Music Festival (Estes Park, CO), as an accompanist for instrumentalists and vocalists on repertoire including art songs, opera, musical theater, choral, jazz, pop, and instrumental. As a soloist, James was a Second Prize winner of the 2007 Bradshaw and Bouno International Piano Competition (New York, NY), and has appeared in master classes and performed at SUNY Fredonia (Fredonia, NY), SUNY Buffalo (Buffalo, NY), East Carolina University (Greenville, NC), and Morgan State University of Baltimore, MD. James holds a M.M. in Piano Performance from East Carolina University and a B.M. in Piano Performance and a Performer’s Certificate from SUNY Fredonia.
