I am currently a staff accompanist for the prestigious Ballet Chicago company, located downtown Chicago at 17 N State St. I also teach piano lessons at The Opus Institute of Chicago, located at www.opusinstitute.com. I'm also the pianist for the American Chamber Opera Company, a new company for up and coming opera singers located in Chicago. I am currently one of the most viewed and most subscribed classical pianists on YouTube to date, with over 2.5 million views and almost 6,000 subscribers.

I have posted over 50 music videos of myself playing the works of Scriabin, Rachmaninoff, Chopin, Liszt, Ravel and other composers. Thanks to YouTube popularity, I was invited to perform in a gallery opening in New York, performances in Svendborg-Denmark, Amsterdam, Malaysia, Italy, and all over the United States.
MORE BIOGRAPHY: In 1997, Cambry won the Silver Medal at the NAACP ACT-SO Awards competition for the Music Instrumental-Classical category and in 1998 and 1999 won the Gold Medal in the categories of Music Instrumental-Classical and Music Instrumental-Contemporary. His teachers included Joseph Schwartz, Sedmara Zakarian Rutstein, Sanford Margolis, William Goldenberg, Graham Scott, and he now studies with Kuang-Hao Huang, piano professor at the Chicago College of the Performing Arts and Concordia University.
In April of 2010, Jonathan Cambry debuted a new technology, an orchestra comprised of only live software instruments using Logic Pro 9. This was the first known performance of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s 2nd Piano Concerto accompanied by a fully complete software orchestra. Performances in 2010 also included Laguna Beach, Laguna Hills, Tustin, Dana Point in California, the Mile Hi Church in Lakewood, CO, Chicago, IL, New York City, NY, University of Montana-Missoula, and other locations in the Midwest thanks to the generosity in sponsorship from Thomas and Deborrah Willard. While at the University of Montana, Cambry was invited to lecture a class of 120 students in the business program to discuss how to promote yourself in the music world using online resources. In November 2010, Cambry participated in the biennial Franz Liszt International Competition for Piano and Voice in Los Angeles and won Honorable Mention awards with fiancee Karrah O’Daniel. One of Jonathan Cambry’s major goals in classical piano is to make it more accessible to younger individuals using technology. Collaborations have included rappers, string players, and opera singers. Another project Cambry is involved with in Laguna Beach, CA is Sonatasia, which is a collaboration of classical music and architecture. |
