Additional Info: Paul Morin is an American born, New York-based pianist, composer and impressionistic painter who has won numerous awards and scholarships thought his years in the arts. For two consecutive years, he received The Suffolk County Piano Teachers Forum Prize. Paul has played numerous recitals at such prestigious halls as Steinway Hall in New York City, Faust Harrison Hall and The Staller Center. Paul has always been active in Chamber Music and has played with The Stony Brook Symphony Orchestra and The New York University Symphony Orchestra. He has studied with well-known piano teachers including: Martin Canin, Morey Ritt, Tina Dahl, and Anita Gelber. He received his Bachelors of Music from Stony Brook University and his Master’s Degree in Piano Performance at New York University, studying with Martin Canin. As an artist, his works are created through inspiration and passion for color and texture. His contemporary paintings show an obsession of abstract nature. Paul’s paintings show what he believes to be the closest to nature in his eyes. His paintings are free from the indulgence of premeditated thought, technique and mechanical harshness, which he believes, would obscure the natural effect in his art. In each piece there is a sense of mystery with just enough nuance to clarify what it might be. Each person sees a different scene in his paintings and for that reasoned they remain unnamed. The paintings are named for the order in which they were completed. As an educator Paul is part of The Suffolk Piano Teachers Forum, College Music Society and Music Teachers National. Paul is also an Adjunct piano professor at New York University, where he teaches Keyboard Harmony courses and private piano classes.
