I have a master of music degree from the University of Houston. I began accompanying while attending UH in the late 1980s and have worked as an accompanist and teacher every since. I have a variety of experience, including staff accompanist for Lone Star College and Lee College (Baytown), class accompanist for the Houston Ballet Academy, rehearsal and orchestral accompanist for Houston Grand Opera's outreach program Opera-to-Go and Opera Rediviva (now Opera in the Heights), pianist for Orchestra X, UIL accompanying, many recitals for both student and professional singers & instrumentalists, music director for HITS theater school, musical director for musicals (most recently "Godspell" at Lone Star College), and jazz pianist for various events in Big Band, combo, duo and solo formats. I sight-read extremely well, transpose (on sight, depending on the difficulty), and can create arrangements from a melody or lead sheet. When accompanying, I seek to make the soloist or ensemble feel secure and confident, and sound better.
