Chinese pianist Tingting Yao has been playing the piano since the age of three and winning a number of competitions in China from an early age. She was subsequently selected for the primary school affiliated to the Shanghai Conservatory of Music. Tingting continued her studies at Tongji University and Melbourne University where she received a Masters in Piano Performance. Following graduation Tingting was selected from pianists all over the world to teach with Lang Lang when he established his first piano school--Lang Lang Music World in Shenzhen, China.

Alongside teaching, Tingting continued to develop as a performing musician. Highlights include Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No.2 with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra for Lang Lang’s “Love, Together” charity concert and a highly successful concert with the trumpet player of the China National Symphony Orchestra. Tingting works closely as an accompanist with the Music Faculty of Shenzhen University and plays chamber music regularly with the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra in Shenzhen Concert Hall such as “Saturday Music Afternoon Tea” & “Beautiful Sunday” programmes as well as classical music concert series in the Bao’an and LoHuo Concert Halls.


In 2015 Tingting completed her Master's Degree at Birmingham Conservatoire, United Kingdom, graduating with Distinction in Piano Accompaniment where she was the winner of the Renna Kellaway Piano Recital Prize and Beryl Chempin Beethoven Prize. She was also in high demand as an accompanist across all departments in the conservatoire with whom the singers have won the Andrew Downes Performance Prize, The Woman Composers Prize, Winifred Micklam Prize,The Edward Brooks English Song Prize, among others. Tingting went on to study on the Advanced Postgraduate Diploma (Professional Performance) in Collaborative Piano at the conservatoire, she continued to flourish as a pianist and chamber musician.

Tingting has been the accompanist for her university choirs (Tongji and Melbourne) as well as for numerous of community choirs and concerts.She is also experienced in accompanying for exams and auditions, highlights include a saxophone student gain a Distinction in Grade 8 ABRSM exam and a 12yo violinist got the offer from the National Children's Orchestra (UK).

Tingting is always interested in collaborating with singers and instrumentalists for concerts and competitions.

Since moving to the United States, she has been collaborating with the University of Oklahoma School of Music.

Now resides in Memphis, TN.
