I have spent years honing my accompanying craft for students of all ages and styles. My own musical journey began early in life, and I benefited from a rich and inspiring music education as a child. I attended a Saturday music school for three years, where I developed strong foundations in piano, music theory, and ensemble performance. I then went on to graduate with a 1st class degree in Piano Performance (classical with Jazz) at Leeds Conservatoire. This formative experience not only gave me a deep appreciation for the importance of quality music performance but also instilled in me the desire to pass on that same inspiration to others.
I have a strong working knowledge of both classical and jazz piano performance, and I am confident performing/ accompanying a wide range of musical styles, from grade material through to more advanced repertoire for Diploma level. I am experienced in preparing students for graded music exams (mostly ABRSM and Trinity) and supporting them through all sorts of performances with confidence. I have experience taking students through their GCSE and A level music performances and exams, helping students to compose, perform and create lasting memories.
I have a breadth of performance experience. I perform as a solo jazz pianist in restaurants and at private events, play in the house band at the house of KOKO in Camden, and organised and promoted live music events, giving me real-world insights into the wider music industry. These experiences have equipped me with a strong sense of musicality, professionalism, and an understanding of how to engage an audience—skills I aim to pass on to my students.
I have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, which I use to build positive, trusting relationships with students and their families. I am well-organised and reliable, able to plan structured, engaging performances and accompanying for all types of events. I am confident working independently or as part of a team, and I am committed to creating a supportive, inclusive learning environment where every performance can blossom.
