Andrew Nguyen is a pianist and collaborative artist currently studying with Sharon Mann at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. His earlier mentors include Nina Scolnik and Stewart Gordon. A prizewinner in numerous competitions, he has received recognition from the Sigma Iota Alpha Scholarship Competition, Kathryn Gawartin Chopin Competition, Lansum International Music Festival, Southwestern Youth Music Festival, CAPMT Honors Competition, MIMA Young Artist Competition, and the Southern California Junior Bach Festival. His performances have taken him to stages across the world, from Los Angeles and New York to Switzerland.
He has enriched his artistry through lessons and masterclasses with distinguished pianists such as Alexander Kobrin, HaeSun Paik, Jon Nakamatsu, Logan Skelton, Angela Cheng, Sara Davis Buechner, Oxana Yablonskaya, and Hans Boepple, among others. Festival appearances include the Borromeo Music Festival and the Piano Program at the Chautauqua Institution. His concert experience spans events such as the International Women at the Piano Conference (2023), the UCI Annual Honors Concert, the Chautauqua Piano Program Showcase, and performances for the Upper Bay Philharmonic Society of Orange County.
In addition to his solo work, he is an active collaborative pianist. He has worked under the guidance of Kathryn Votapek, Julio Elizalde, Jean-Louis Haguenauer, Sarah Koo Freeman, Horacio Contreras, Dennis Kim, and Lorna Griffitt. His studies and performances have been supported by several honors, including the Sarah Caldicott Miller Scholarship, the Rosalyn Goldberg Scholarship, and a four-year award from the Marjorie and Robert Rawlins Scholarship.
