Crystal Hwang is a pianist and composer whose musical journey began at the age of five. By eight, she had attained Grade 8 in piano from Trinity College London, and at ten, she earned her first laureate and had the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall.

Over the years, she has won first prizes in three international piano competitions and received gold awards at three music festivals. In 2017, she received the “Best Romantic Award” at an international competition and was selected for Steinway’s Rising Stars concert in 2018. In 2022, she was awarded second prize in an international piano duet competition, and her original composition Winter Calls was among the winning entries in an international young composers contest.

Her music has resonated across Singapore in leading venues such as the Esplanade Recital Hall and Library, National Gallery, Arts House, Yong Siew Toh Conservatory, French and Japanese Embassies, and the Singapore International Festival of Music Gala. Since 2016, she has brought classical music into everyday spaces through the Bach in the Subways movement, including a performance with founder Dale Henderson in 2018.

She is currently pursuing a Diploma in Music at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, having received a full scholarship from the National Arts Council.
