My name is Gisela Meyer and I trained as a pianist (undergraduate and postgraduate) in Germany before coming to London, where I obtained a Mmus in Accompaniment at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Later I took up private singing lessons with Jessica Cash, formerly professor of the Guildhall School in London. I work as a freelance musician and tutor (occasionally also accompanist) for the City Lit Institute, where I currently teach Chamber Ensembles, Piano and Classical Singing. I am the exam accompanist of the City and Islington Sixth form college and play recitals as external accompanist for various music colleges across London.
As accompanist I have worked with various singers, most notably with Dorothy Ross and Sarah Tynan. I perform regularly in concerts as a pianist (solo, chamber ensembles/accompaniment as well as a singer. My most notable performance as a singer was with John Alley, pianist of the LSO and Elisabeth Hobbs, flute. This ever- expanding experience from “both sides of the piano” never ceases to amaze me, and I love learning new aspects of accompaniment.
My native tongue is German, but apart from English I also speak French (A-level 2015) and have intermediate Italian skills as well as some rudimentary knowledge of Spanish and very little Russian. Since the pandemic started I kept working with a lot of my existing clients, even gaining new ones, tutoring them on music remotely- whether I could play their instrument, or not. I have also produced a great number of backing tracks both for private use and for a few professional albums where the singers recorded in a studio on top of my - remotely produced- audio file. Fees

£ 48.00 Pounds Per Hour
I do not generally travel to clients for rehearsals - though I have gone to colleges for lessons with my client’s teacher. In the case of full-time students, my hourly fee is lower - it also depends on rehearsal time and length of the recital. Please feel free to contact me for a quote.
