Katarzyna Kowalik is a London based pianist, and harpsichordist of Polish origins. She completed her Master Degree in Historical Performance at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London (MPerf 2012) with Carole Cerasi, James Johnstone and Nicholas Parle, obtaining The City of London Corporation Award (2011) and Guildhall School Trust Award (2010). She was also awarded a prestigious Guildhall Artist Fellowship in both 2012 and 2013. Katarzyna also trained at the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music in Warsaw between 2000 - 2011: Piano Masters with Prof. Alicja Paleta - Bugaj (MA 2005), Piano Doctoral Studies with Prof. Maria Szraiber (2006 - 2008), Harpsichord Masters under direction of Prof. Władysław Kłosiewicz (MA 2011).

Katarzyna mastered her skills in the Piccola Accademia in Montisi studying with Christophe Rousset (2012) and Skip Sempé (2015 in Utrecht, 2017 in Paris) as well as with Ilton Wjuniski at the Académie Musicale de Villecroze (2011). She also participated in the Academy of Ancient Music AAMplify side-by-side workshops.

Katarzyna has performed in many prestigious concert venues such as: The Barbican Centre, The Charterhouse, The Cobbe Collection of Early Keyboards at Hatchlands, The Foundling Museum, Handel & Hendrix, Milton Court, The Museum of London, Southwark Cathedral, St Martin-in-theFields, St George’s Hanover Square, St John’s Smith Square, Stationers’ Hall, The Royal Albert Hall, The Wallace Collection, The Victoria & Albert Museum.

She has performed at festivals, such as: Festival Oude Muziek Fringe Utrecht (2016 - two solo harpsichord recitals), The Jane Austen Festival in Bath (2011, 2012, 2015, 2016, 2018), London Handel Festival (2013, 2014, 2017), and Brighton Early Music Festival (2017). Katarzyna has also performed across Poland and The United Kingdom, as well as in Germany, France, Czech Republic, Ukraine, Hungary, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, The Netherlands, and North Korea.

She has played with many groups and orchestras such as Albion Baroque Orchestra, The Amadè Players, The Brandenburg Baroque Soloists, Double Entendre, Fiori Musicali, Literary Music, Little Baroque Company, London Concertante, London Musical Arts Orchestra, Music for Awhile, La Serenissima and Opera Lyrica. Katarzyna has been also regularly involved in educational projects organised by Classical Opera.

Katarzyna is a director of the Royal Baroque ensemble, who were highly commended in the final of the York Early Music International Young Artists Competition (2015) and who perform internationally (recently at the Ancient and Baroque Music Festival of Peñíscola in Spain 2018).

In 2015 Katarzyna was a participant of the Handel House Talent Scheme - a programme to further the career development of promising young professional baroque music performers. She also won a Basso Continuo Prize at the ‘Gianni Gambi’ Competition in Pesaro (Italy).

Katarzyna’s CDs include ‘Forgotten Vienna’ with The Amadè Players (Resonus Classics 2015), Meilyr Jones’s album ‘2013’ as well as ‘French Collection’ solo harpsichord CD (2018). She has also recorded for BBC Radio 1.

Katarzyna works as a piano teacher at the Pembridge Hall School, as well as piano and harpsichord teacher at Morley College in London.
