Originally from Tokyo, Japan, Mari Ito-Klausmeyer began studying piano at the age of 3. She graduated from Toho Gakuen College of Music and later earned her Master’s degree and Artist Diploma from the Schwob School of Music at Columbus State University, studying with Professor Alexander Kobrin.

She has participated in masterclasses with renowned pianists including Mikhail Voskresensky, Ruvim Ostrovsky, and Choong Mo Kang.

Mari received the YAMAHA Music Foundation Scholarship in 2008 and has won top prizes at GMTA, AMTA, and other competitions. In 2014, she performed Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3 as a winner of the CSU Concerto Competition. The following year, she gave a Kawai-sponsored recital in Japan and was selected for the 9th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition. Her additional honors include a bronze medal at the International Chopin Competition in Asia and awards from PTNA and the North Kanto Piano Competition.

From 2016 to 2020, Mari served as a collaborative pianist at the Schwob School of Music, specializing in string, woodwind, and trumpet repertoire. She also taught privately in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, from 2021 to spring 2023.

Now based in San Antonio, Texas, Mari works as a freelance collaborative pianist and private instructor.
