Maria Leonor Sá is currently in her first year of a master’s degree in piano accompaniment at Conservatorium Maastricht, Netherlands, studying under Professor Jeroen Riemsdijk. She also collaborates with Abigail Richards in the accompaniment of vocal repertoire.
Maria began her formal musical training in Portugal and later completed her undergraduate studies at the School of Music and Performing Arts (ESMAE) under the mentorship of Professor Luís Filipe Sá.
Maria Leonor has participated in various advanced piano courses, where she worked with prominent pianists such as Alberto Urroz, Caspar Franz, Elena Richter, Heribert Koch, Luís Pipa, Manuel Araújo, Marta Zabaleta, Murray McLachlan, Olga Baranova, Raul da Costa, and Serghei Covalenco.
A seasoned competitor, Maria has earned recognition in various piano competitions, including third prizes at the Almada International Piano Competition (2021) and the "Elisa de Sousa Pedroso" Competition (2022), as well as an honorable mention at the Gilberta Paiva National Chamber Music Competition (2024).
In the orchestral realm, Maria has collaborated with notable conductors such as Federico Santi, José Ferreira Lobo and Diogo Costa. She performed with the ESMAE Wind Orchestra under the direction of Polish conductor Jan Wierzba and took part in the 2023 Junior Portuguese Symphonic Band Festival, led by Belgian maestro Ivan Meylemans. Her experience extends to choral accompaniment, with performances in France, Spain, and Portugal.
