Mercedes Rosario Juan, pianist, was born in Mendoza, Argentina, in 1982. She began her piano lessons at the age of five at the Cuyo Institute of Music (Instituto Cuyano de Cultura Musical) and at the National University of Cuyo’s School of Music (Escuela de Música de la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo). She studied violin for six years under the guidance of Maestro Arkady Gologorski, and violoncello for five years with Maestro Norberto Attaguile. She graduated from the National University of La Plata (Universidad Nacional de La Plata ) as a Bachelor of Music in Orchestra Conducting. Later on, she further her studied at the Teatro Colón Art College (Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón), where she received her Master’s degree in Opera Conducting. Since 2008, she has worked as a coach and pianist at the Teatro Argentino in La Plata , Buenos Aires, and as an accompanist at the Teatro Argentino’s Opera Studio.
She has extensive experience as a solo pianist, performing in and around Argentina. Mercedes has assisted in the conducting, musical coaching and preparation of operas such as Giulio Cesare, Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, Così fan tutte, L’elisir d’amore, Viaggio a Reims, Nabucco, Don Carlos, Il trovatore, Traviata, Aida, Butterfly, Tosca, Bohème, Gianni Schicchi, Werther, Les contes d'Hoffmann, Eugene Onegin, Salomé by R. Strauss, Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District by Dmitri Shostakóvich, Tristan und Isolde, and in local premieres of Argentine Operas like Ainadamar by Osvaldo Golijov. She has also done musical preparation and coaching for opera choirs, such as The Magic Flute, L’elisir d’amore, Lucia di Lamermmoor and Caballeria Rusticana. She has played the piano and the celesta with the Teatro Argentino’s Orchestra, in works like Ainadamar by Golijov, Espartaco by Khachaturian, and also at the Argentine premiere of "Liebeslieder" by Luis Mucillo, among others. She has worked alongside international Conductors such as Dante Anzolini, Rodolfo Fischer, Stefan Lano, Carlos Vieu, Mario Perusso, Facundo Agudín, Reinaldo Censabella and Bruno D’Astoli. Furthermore, she has been invited as a guest Conductor for the Municipal Youth Orchestra in San Martín, Buenos Aires, with whom she has played various symphonies and overtures by Beethoven, Mozart concertos, among others. She has now been assigned the musical preparation of Wagner’s Tristan and Isolda, for the 2011 Opera Season at the Teatro Argentino in La Plata. She currently performs as a rehearsal pianist for the Opera season, does coaching of opera singers, works as a lighting assistant manager, prompter , solo pianist and harpsichordist with the Teatro Argentino’s Orchestra .
Mercedes was a semi finalist at the Domingo-Thornton Young Artist Program at the Los Angeles Opera.
She was one of the trainee pianists at the Canadian Operatic Arts Academy summer Program in Ontario, Canada, and in L’Accademia Europea dell’Opera in Milan, Italy.
She was awarded assistance towards the costs of attending to these Summer Programs by the Mozarteum Argentino and the Solti Foundation.

Mercedes Rosario Juan, directora de orquesta y pianista, nacida en Mendoza Argentina en 1982. Comenzó sus clases de piano a la edad de 5 en el Instituto Cuyano de Cultura Musical y en la Escuela de Música de la Universidad Nacional de Cuyo. Estudió violín 6 años con el Maestro Arkady Gologorski y violoncello por 5 años con el Maestro Norberto Attaguile. Se graduó de la Universidad Nacional de La Plata como Licenciada y Profesora de Dirección Orquestal y en el Instituto Superior de Arte del Teatro Colón como Directora Musical de Ópera.
Desde 2008 ha trabajado como Maestra Interna en el Teatro Argentino de La Plata y en la Ópera Estudio del Teatro Argentino como Maestra de Repertorio. Ha sido asistente de dirección, maestra preparadora y apuntadora de óperas como Giulio Cesare, Le nozze di Figaro, Don Giovanni, Così fan tutte, L’elisir d’amore, Viaggio a Reims, Nabucco, Don Carlos, Il trovatore, Traviata, Aida, Butterfly, Tosca, Bohème, Gianni Schicchi, Werther, Les contes d'Hoffmann, Eugene Onegin, Salomé de R. Strauss, Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District de Dmitri Shostakóvich, Tristan und Isolde, y en estrenos de óperas Argentinas como Ainadamar de Osvaldo Golijov. También ha hecho la preparación musical de coros de ópera como La flauta mágica, L’elisir d’amore, Lucia di Lamermmoor y Caballeria Rusticana.
Ha tocado el piano y la celesta con la orquesta del Teatro Argentino en obras como
Ainadamar de Golijov, Espartaco de Khachaturian, y también en el estreno Argentino "Liebeslieder" de Luis Mucillo, entre otras.
Ha trabajado como pianista de directores como Dante Anzolini, Rodolfo Fischer, Stefan Lano, Carlos Vieu, Mario Perusso, Facundo Agudín, Reinaldo Censabella y Bruno D’Astoli.
Además, ha sido invitada en diferentes oportunidades como Directora de la Orquesta Juvenil Municipal de San Martín, con la que ha hecho obras de Beethoven, Mozart, Haydn, entre otras.
Actualmente realiza tareas de pianista en los ensayos de escena, repertorista, buttafuori, asistente de luces y apuntadora, como pianista y clavecinista en el Teatro Argentino de La Plata.
En el exterior Mercedes fue finalista del Domingo-Thornton Young Artist en el teatro de Los Angeles, USA.
Ella fue seleccionada como una de las pianistas acompañantes del Programa de verano del Canadian Operatic Arts Academy en Ontario, Canadá y en L’Accademia Europea dell’Opera en Milán, Italia.
Para poder realizar estos programas Mercedes recibió becas del Mozarteum Argentino y de la Fundación Solti.
