Originally from the south of England, Nicholas has spent the last four years studying for a BA in Music and Spanish at the University of Hull. Although Spanish has been his main language of interest, he has also studied French, German and Italian to coincide with his musical education.

Prior to University degree he had already begun playing for local theatres and musicians including shows such as Annie, Alice in wonderland and Oliver!, and by the time he was 18 he had become the organ scholar for a local church where his passion for choral music and, oddly, bell ringing began.

By the time he reached university he had already acquired a distinction at grade 8 piano and passed grade 8 theory (a rarity these days as most musicians only have the required grade 5 theory), and quickly became known and sought after as a relaxed and friendly accompanist for ensembles and soloists alike.

Throughout his University life he has been involved with a vast assortment of events including directing and playing for the University Chapel Choir, rehearsal pianist for a great number of choirs, soloists, ensembles and drama societies, singing in a variety of choirs, playing percussion and keys for orchestras and playing continuo on both harpsichord and chamber organ for the recent early music opera production of 'Poppea' and the early music ensemble. The diversity between his activities has ensured that he can read and cope efficiently with a variety of musical aspects including reading and realising figured bass, improvisation and sight-reading.

Recently he has become interested with harmonisation and orchestration, and his recent dissertation ‘5 orchestrations of a selection of pieces by Mika’ was well received. He has also provided arrangements of pieces for SATB and small children’s orchestra for schools and companies in his hometown.
