Praised as a "sensitive pianist" and "outstanding accompanist" who delivers "powerful interpretations," Nicole Elyse DiPaolo is a versatile pianist, composer, and scholar currently based near Cleveland, OH, US. She holds a B.Mus in Music Theory from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, where she studied piano under Michele Cooker and Louis Nagel; she also studied composition with Bright Sheng and basso continuo/harpsichord accompaniment with Edward Parmentier. In 2006 and 2007, Nicole appeared as a concerto soloist with the Ambassador Chamber Players, featuring works of J. S. Bach and Mozart alongside two performances of her own Piano Trio in C minor. Following her graduation from Michigan, Nicole completed an MM in Music Theory from Indiana University-Bloomington, where she has recently become a PhD candidate in the same field and still serves as an online Adjunct Lecturer in Music Theory.
Currently, Nicole is a sought-after private instructor of piano, music theory, and composition as well as an active mostly-vocal accompanist. Nicole has enjoyed musical partnerships with students of nearly every current IU voice department faculty member, and she has also been the studio class pianist for Prof. Peter Volpe. In addition, she served as the rehearsal pianist/coach for a summer production of John Frederick Lampe's little-known Baroque opera Pyramus and Thisbe at IU. Outside of IU, Nicole was also on the faculty of Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp in 2014 and 2015 as the composition instructor and SSA choral accompanist. To further her vocal coaching skills, she has taken French and German diction courses with Prof. Gary Arvin.
Notable recent engagements include the 2018 Evansville Philharmonic Young Artist Competition; the 2016 and 2017 National Society of Arts and Letters Vocal Competitions (multiple entrants); the "Opera Night at North" benefit concert with students of IU's top-ranked opera program (among them "Accidental Tenor" Andrew Lunsford); and two long-term cruise ship performing contracts with violinist Amy Schlicher as the Duo del Mare.

My past and current repertoire focuses mostly on vocal and young violinists' standards, but given sufficient preparation, I am up for just about anything that will accommodate small hands! For long-term projects like full recitals, etc., I will quote a flat fee rather than calculate hourly rates. Looking forward to hearing from you!
$ 40.00 Dollars Per Hour
Please inquire for complete rates, which will vary based on the scope of the project ($40/hour is an average for private lessons and coachings).
Additional fees apply for short-notice engagements or engagements requiring extensive travel. For long-term engagements (e. g. a full recital program requiring a number of rehearsals and major repertoire) and church substitute engagements, I may quote a flat rate based on the repertoire, time and number of rehearsals, and travel required.
Please note that repertoire notated in chord chart/lead sheet notation will need to be sent well in advance so I may translate it into classical notation.
Transcription/Arranging: $15 per page when working from a score (e.g. preparing a transposed vocal score to suit your range); $50 and up per audio-minute when transcribing by ear (from a recording).
Piano Instruction: Please inquire for rates and details. I am on faculty at the Westlake Music Academy and Celebrity School of Music, and I am also available to teach privately in Shaker Heights (in-home lessons) and anywhere in the world online via Zoom.
