Rebekah Carter holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Cornish College of the Arts.

She studied Piano Performance with Dr. Peter Mack and Dr. Thomas Otten. Ms. Carter was awarded the Tholen Fellowship from Portland Piano International and studied with Dr. Alexander Shtarkman (Professor of Piano, Peabody Conservatory).

Ms. Carter is an adjunct instructor in the Performing Arts Department at Treasure Valley Community College: Accompanist of Choirs, Private Applied Piano.

Ms. Carter has coached voice students at Cornish College of the Arts, student-directed the 2CJ School District choirs, and accompanied for numerous schools and churches.

Rebekah Carter is a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music in Piano (NCTM). Her certification is through the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA), based out of Cincinnati, Ohio. She has held certification since 2017. In addition, from 2018-2021, Ms. Carter held the position of Certification Chair on the Executive Board of Directors for the Oregon Music Teachers Association (OMTA).

Ms. Carter has held numerous positions in professional music teaching organizations, including OMTA District Secretary (2017-2021), OMTA State Sonatina Festival Chair (2020-2021), OMTA District Festival Chair (2017-2021), SRVMT President (2016-2019).

Ms. Carter has adjudicated for the OMTA Syllabus program and piano competitions. In 2020, she presented at the OMTA State Conference. She presents workshops and sessions on various pedagogical topics -- most popular is her "Constructive Communication with Parents" session.

Ms. Carter has taught piano lessons for over 17 years. She offers online lessons to students in the U.S. and internationally. Her students participate regularly in festivals, competitions, examinations, recitals, and community functions. Her students have performed for weddings, played in worship bands, accompanied choirs and pep bands, fundraised for charities, and performed solo concerts. Following the model of the OMTA Syllabus program, Ms. Carter's students progress through 10 levels of piano study (after pre-level), learning music theory, musicianship skills, and repertoire from the classical eras. The curriculum includes all keys/key signatures, scales, arpeggios, chord progressions and functions, ear training, sight reading, rhythm, vocabulary, technique, and stylistic/historical interpretation of repertoire. This foundation gives students the ability to enjoy music for a lifetime.

Ms. Carter has performed professionally with the Treasure Valley Symphony, Treasure Valley Chorale, Cascadia String Quartet, and Mildred Hill Concert Series.
