He studied at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (Singapore) where he graduated with a Diploma in Music in 2007 under Rena Phua, Benjamin Loh, Boris Kraljevic, and later, Lim Tshui Fang.

In 2010, Shu Han later furthered his musical studies at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he was the first student to be allowed to skip the first year of the Bachelor of Music (Honours) programme, which he completed in in 2013, under the tutelage of the eminent British pianist Paul Janes.

Shu Han's love for music has seen him involved in numerous other activities. Other than playing the piano, Shu Han also plays the Violin, and has performed as Violinist in the NAFA Symphony Orchestra under the direction of conductors such as Peter Esswood, Volker Hartung, Lim Yau, and Darrell Ang. In addition, Shu Han has also played with the National University of Singapore Symphony Orchestra under Lim Soon Li. He is also an active chorister, having sung in the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts Chorus under the direction of Jennifer Tham and Goh Toh Chai.

As a freelance musician, Shu Han is equally at home as a chamber musician, or as a piano accompanist or repetiteur. During his time at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Shu Han was actively involved in accompanying the Vocal Department under the guidance of soprano Nancy Yuen in many internal and external performances. Shu Han is also highly sought after as an accompanist for instrumentalists and singers in music examinations, recitals, and competitions.

Shu Han's love for choral music has seen him highly active as a choral accompanist. He has accompanied many of local Soprano Khor Ai Ming’s school choirs in numerous performances, as well as the 2005, 2007, and 2010 Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging of Choirs. He has also worked for the Singapore Lyric Opera as a Piano Repetiteur and choir accompanist under the direction of Khor Ai Ming, and was involved in their production of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte in 2010.

As a chamber musician, Shu Han is also comfortable playing in any instrumental ensemble, having been involved in numerous uncommon instrumental trios such as a Trio for Flute, Oboe and Piano. However, his main interest is in vocal repertoire, where he has very frequently accompanied for the human voice. Shu Han is also a keen dance accompanist, having accompanied for numerous dance classes.

Shu Han has also taken part in piano masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Gabriel Kwok, Seymour Lipkin and Martino Tirimo, Julius Drake, Philippe Cassard, Victor Rosenbaum, Stephen Bojsten and Carlo Grante. He regards Gabriel Kwok and Martino Tirimo as some of his greatest inspirations to date.
