Christa is an in-demand freelance pianist with over 35 years of accompanying experience across ballet, dance, vocal, instrumental and performance settings.
Christa has established an outstanding reputation as a ballet pianist and is a regular accompanist for the Royal Ballet School and Birmingham Royal Ballet, where she plays for both the Dance Track and Next Gen programmes. She previously spent eight years as a full-time pianist at Elmhurst Ballet School and has also worked with GradPro, Midland Theatre Ballet, BBO Dance and English Youth Ballet, in addition to accompanying numerous auditions, workshops, associate programmes and intensive courses. An exceptional sight-reader with an extensive repertoire and a natural instinct for matching movement with music, she is valued for her versatility, musical sensitivity and ability to inspire dancers of all ages and levels.
Alongside her accompanying work, Christa is a Rock & Pop examiner for Trinity College London, assessing candidates across a wide range of contemporary musical styles and performance levels. This role reflects her broad musical knowledge, meticulous attention to detail and deep understanding of performance, technique and musicianship.
Christa also has extensive experience working with singers. She spent nine years leading Rock Choir sessions from the piano, accompanying rehearsals and performances while supporting large choirs in a varied repertoire of contemporary music. This role saw her perform on stage at iconic venues (including Hyde Park, O2 Arena, Symphony Hall) alongside renowned artists (including the BBC Concert Orchestra, Susan Boyle, Michael Ball, Rick Wakeman, Kiki Dee), and saw her perform live numerous times on national TV and radio (Britain's Got Talent live final interval act, The One Show, The Michael Ball Show).
As a cocktail and event pianist, Christa performs at weddings, luxury venues, hotels and corporate events. Her extensive repertoire spans classical favourites, jazz standards, film music and beautifully arranged contemporary songs, allowing her to create the perfect atmosphere for every occasion while instinctively reading the room and adapting to her audience.
She holds a BA (Hons) in Music, a PGCE in Secondary Music and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and was awarded Distinction at Grade 8 in both Piano and Oboe.
Whether accompanying a ballet class, examination, rehearsal, audition or concert performance, Christa combines professionalism, reliability and musical excellence with the experience and versatility to support performers at every stage of their musical journey.
