Amazing session yesterday with the spectacular Karen Newby. We rehearsed and filmed songs from our future show centred around Piaf’s songs. Karen’s keenness and professionalism know absolutely no bounds! The woman is a machine she can play whatever whenever wherever! (And I’m not talking about the song (although I’m sure she could come up with a fantastic dark cabaret arrangement for it !))

I recently used Karen for a clarinet pupil that was sitting a grade 8 exam.
The first lesson after the first rehearsal, my pupil not only showed significant improvement in her overall playing but her confidence. This continued to improve as they rehearsed together.
My pupil found her friendly, approachable and mentioned she gave constructive feedback.
For the day of the exam she turned up early, prepared and knew the order in which things were going to happen.
Musically, I overheard some of the exam and she played some challenging repertoire and followed a nervous pupil extremely well. The examiner also commented on how well she performed.
I'd recommend and hope to work with again.
Repertoire:-
Brahms Clarinet Sonata in Eb
Malcolm Arnold Sonatina

Craig Parrott
Music with Reeds

I would like to give a big shout out to my amazing collaborator Karen Newby.
She is my acolyte pianist accompanier on Dagmarr’s Kabarett and definitely one of the most dedicated, keen, hard-working, experienced and talented person I ever got the chance to work with.
Her work ethic knows no bounds. Although I wish she could allow herself some more resting time and slow down the pace sometimes, I am eternally grateful for her keenness, work force and energy!
She definitely has the 4 golden Ps : Always super pro, positive, punctual and prepared. Every kabarett singer deserves a frau Newby! To more Wunderbarness to come!

Thank you so much for all the work you have been doing with my son as it is really helping him to think how he should work with an accompanist and not simply play with a ‘blinkered approach’ and not listen to what is going on whilst he is playing the trombone part. He played the Cavatine to his teacher on Saturday and he was very happy - it is one of the set audition pieces for Music College.
